Comment: Dear Uncle Ivan We want to thank you for your faithfulnes to our Great God and Saviour Jesus Christ down through the years. The Burning Bush will be sadly missed as it has been a blessing to our souls.May you have a blessed retirement although that will not be fully realised until you go home to be with the Lord. After living in Australia for most of my life, my nation of birth has always been in my thoughts and prayers.
I am deeply saddened to see our moderator who I always looked upon as a modern day Martin Luther going down a path of disobedience and hypocrisy. I remember being in Ulster when Gerry and Martin were first brought into 10 Downing street by Mr Blair. I saw Tony Blair in an East Belfast shopping centre. I was so vocal against him in welcoming murders into no 10. That I was interviewed by UTV, before Peter Robinson. The DUP were so opposed to that meeting stating Mr Blair had blood on his hands. Could they now be so blinded. I pray our Sovereign LORD intervenes.
My Wife and I pray especially for Dr Paisley and our Free Presbyterian Church that Gracious wisdom and disernment will be given at this time, for the Cause of Christ in Ulster and the future of our Church.
God Bless & Take Care
Jason & Francesca Patrick.

It is lovely to hear from you, Jason and Francesca (who I have yet to meet). May the lord keep you both faithful to Him
'Uncle' Editor!

Comment: Let me join in saluting the Editor for his faithful service to the Gospel against all opposition.

As the guestbook is to close, some of you that I have interacted with on this site I may not ever be able to communicate with again in this life, but I leave you with this, the most important thing I can say:

if you are relying upon your own works or your own church activities or some baptism or sacrament instead of Christ and His finished work at Calvary, I urge you to forsake them all for His mercy and Grace alone.

The Scriptures say, again and again, that whoever calls upon the Lord shall be saved. I urge upon you, if you are trusting in anything of your own making, even if you believe that your works are wrought by grace, please consider the teaching of Romans 4, particularly that noble passage which reads:

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4:4, 5)

If you are trusting in anything else but the finished work of Christ at Calvary, I beg you to cast it all aside and just call upon the Lord in true reliance upon His sacrifice, and He will save you. He justifies us while we are ungodly apart from works by His sovereign Grace.

Your friend in the Lord,

John Pittman Hey

Thank you my friend John for all your contributions and for these most suitable final words. Perhaps sometime we may meet here in this world, if not, then in that bright world to come through the merits of Christ's precious blood.
The Editor.

Comment: Mr Foster. I would like to thank you for the stand that you took 40 years ago. Truly it could be said of you " I have fought a good fight,I have finished my course,I have kept the faith".(Second Timothy Ch.4.verse 7 ) No doubt that there are many who secretly supported you BUT like Peter "they followed afar off" For evil to propser good men need do nothing. God Bless you for the publication of the Burning Bush and its contents. Robert has distant memories of schooldays with you "many years ago".

Many thanks Jane and, yes, I too have those distant memories. Little did we know of the path ahead.
The Editor.

Comment: It was only two weeks ago, after reading disturbing reports of his comments in the Belfast Telegraph, that I first came to this site. It has been very revealing the line thinking of both Mr Foster and some of the contributors to this guest book. I have looked back over some previous discussions regarding Psalm singing and I find it hard to comprehend the vigorousness of the debate, as I view this issue as an unimportant in the light of the problems facing the Church in today’s world. While I may disagree with Mr Foster on many things I believe he has been fair and even handed in allowing various opinions to be voiced – not an easy task in any forum. May Mr Foster and his family know God’s riches blessing in his well earned retirement. Robert.

I appreciate the comments Robert. Yes we do disagree on some matters and they are matters very dear to heart and consequently I react vigorously when challenged. I trust I will be forgiven for those occasions I crossed the line of courtesy.

Comment: Rev Foster. Thank you for your faithful stand and witness over so many years - and quite a few of them before I was born! Have enjoyed the Burning Bush, particulary viewing this guestbook and will miss it. No doubt some people will be glad to see you go but then '..a prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house' (Matt 13:57)

I appreciate your comments, Andrew.

Comment: Dear Mr Foster, It will be sad to see you move on. Your faithfulness to the truth will be missed and your verbal jousting has been fun, even if some still despise wisdom. May our Lord richly bless you and your family. Colossians 1:3.

Thanks Fred.

Comment: I have logged on to read this guest page often over the past year. I wanted to say that some of the comments have been disturbing. However Mr. Foster seems to have been very even handed in what he has had published. From my point of personal faith I do not agree with much here - but will miss keepojg abreast of the emotions and feeling related to church, faith and politics back home. With best wishes for all your futures.

My thanks to you Brendan in far-off Hong Kong.

Comment: Rev. Foster: Thank you for being a Godly example and for standing up for the truth. I have found the Burning Bush publication to be very helpful and honest, and i'm sorry to see it go. I hope that you will continue to run this site for a long time to come. God bless, Joseph.

Thanks Joseph. Your comments via email have been a real encouragement to me, I hope you know that. I treasure those days, a little while ago now, in Lancaster County.
The richly bless you.
The Editor.
